Nádherná majestátna socha zo 16.storočia v sebe ukrýva tajné miestnosti

Epický kolos – napoly človek a napoly hora – postavil v 16.storočí renomovaný taliansky sochár Giambologna ako symbol drsných Apeninských hôr v Taliansku.

Park, v ktorom v súčasnosti stojí kolos, býva otvorený v piatky, soboty a nedele od 10:00 hod. do 19:00 hod. až do konca októbra. Tak sa treba poponáhľať s návštevou!

If you are looking for some fascinating places to visit during your stay in Florence and you want to avoid the usual crowds, discover the park of Pratolino. In Pratolino Francesco de' Medici built his intimate villa. Projected by Bernardo Buontalenti, the villa and the park offered delight and pleasure to Medici's guest. The villa was surrounded by streams, fountains and grottos. Here Francesco passed a lot of time with his lover Bianca Cappello. Today the villa is lost but the magnificent park survives. The most impressive fountain is the Apennine by Giambologna. If you want to discover more, read my recent post on the blog. This is the Apennine Colossus by Giambologna. It is an amazing 12 meters high and sits in a park near the town of Pratolino near Florence. He is the Titan that made the Apennine mountains. It was part of an elaborate garden of a villa built for the Medici. It is not just a sculpture, it is a building. There are three grotto’s inside. One had a water organ and automata inside. Another various sculptures. The third leads all the way into the colossus’s head. There is a fireplace there, and when you light it, smoke escapes through the sculptures nose.
